I finally was able to travel back to visit my second home away from Philly, which is NYC! I basically had a fashion event meeting to attend last week and let me tell you that the weather was really humid and sticky. I was already aware before heading over to New York that the weather was going to be hot and humid, but that did not absolutely stop me. Any opportunity I get to visit my second home away from home I usually take advantage of.
So while I was in NYC, I had chance to check out the Force of Nature exhibit at The Museum of FIT. I have been wanting to check out this exhibit since it opened back in May. The Museum of FIT always have great exhibitions such as the Uniformity Exhibit and Black Fashion Designers Exhibit I attended a while back. There is an upcoming exhibit that’s coming in September that I will be checking out called Expedition: Fashion from the Extreme, which will be an upcoming future blog post. I’m so glad I had the opportunity because it’s a really a cool exhibit. It’s not necessarily a big exhibit, but the fashion displayed is pretty awesome.
The Force of Nature exhibit examines the complex relationship between fashion and the natural world. It basically reveals how nature has historically influenced fashion, and how fashion can serve as an indicator of society’s relationship with the natural world. Some examples that you will find in the exhibit are bold patterns of animal skin, feathers and exotic hats.
