When it came to the Studio 189 SS24 runway show at New York Fashion Week this season, it did not disappoint. I had the pleasure of attending in person to check out the beautiful collection from Studio 189 held at Spring Studios. The show was not your typical traditional runway where the models just strut down the runway, but more of a celebration of joy, culture, and dance.
Studio 189 originally co-founded by the actress Rosario Dawson and Abrima Erwiah. This year marks a celebration of 10 years in the making of style. The collection consisted of the most beautiful African-inspired patterns with vivid bold colors of purple, orange, yellow, green, and pink. I saw many zebra-striped pieces to geometric Patterns in the mix. All clothing from Studio 189 is handmade in Africa with a manufacturing facility located in Accra.
I love how the model’s makeup was noticeably light and natural allowing focus on the collection to shine. The hairstyles were on point, as there were braids sported with tribal beads on the runway. I honestly cannot wait until we can shop the Spring/Summer collection once it is released. In the meantime, you can check out the photos and videos from the runway show I have captured in the moment.
